(BUSINESS WIRE) -- As part of the World Scouting annual JOTA-JOTI (Jamboree-on-the-Air-Jamboree-on-the-Internet), the world’s largest online Scout event which connects Scouts from over 170 countries over 3 days from 20-22 October, Alwaleed Philanthropies, chaired by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud, hosted an event in partnership with the World Scout Movement to raise awareness about the impact of deforestation and to inspire young people to become active actors in forest degradation and engage global citizens.

In an effort to conserve the world’s natural forests, Alwaleed Philanthropies are hosting the virtual event on their Metaverse platform, Decentraland. Scouts around the world, as well as the general public, have been invited to navigate through a virtual forest, gain insight into the consequences of deforestation, and participate in the inaugural forest plantation event on the Metaverse. The Decentraland platform has already gained 26,500 scouts and planted 610 trees within the first three days. The count is still increasing as the platform is open to the general public for the next coming weeks.

Within the virtual space, participants can engage with interactive exhibits, connect with like-minded individuals, and discover actionable steps that can be taken to protect our precious forests. The experience also enables users to collect POAP’s by gathering seeds and planting their own trees within the space.

The event builds on the success of Alwaleed Philanthropies’ campaign to tackle cyber bullying and discrimination in the Metaverse, with Alwaleed Philanthropies now committed to using their Decentraland Metaverse platform to tackle climate change and deforestation; aligning with SDGs 13 and 15: Climate Action and Life on Land.

Complexity of organic cotton certification

There are several international certifications and standards for organic cotton. These begins with Ginning, the process of separating the seed and cotton from the harvested cotton ball and cotton to ensure traceability for yarn, fabrics, and the final product. However, for processes prior to that stage, the certification standard for organic agricultural products is applied to cotton balls and the field.

Existence of these two different certifications makes it difficult to achieve consistent traceability management for organic cotton (products). In the past, there were cases in which large-scale fraud came to light related to organic cotton in India, the world’s largest producer country of organic cotton.

Traceability aimed for by Cotton iD

We made and started operating a proprietary management system that links the two international certifications for the organic cotton produced in India that we handle. This system enables consistent traceability management from the cotton field to thread. Through this system, we can achieve incredibly transparent traceability for 85% or more of the organic cotton that we handle, from cotton field to thread. (BUSINESS WIRE)--Stationary battery manufacturer Hithium exhibited this week at the most anticipated event in the clean energy sector's annual calendar All-Energy Australia, held in partnership with the Clean Energy Council.

Hithium presents the new 5 MegaWatt hours container the ∞Block using the standard 20-foot container structure. The more compact second generation (ESS 2.0), higher-capacity energy storage system delivers 46% higher energy density than standard systems based on 280 Ah cells. The product will come pre-installed and ready to connect, outfitted with 48 battery modules based on the manufacturer’s new 314 Ah LFP cells, each module providing 104.5 kWh capacity and designed to meet the needs of large utility scale systems. The container will also be technically compatible with most top inverter brands’ power control systems, or bidirectional inverters.

The new energy storage system also comes with Hithium’s mature multi-level, liquid-cooling technology, which keeps cell temperature variation below 3° Celsius. Intelligent thermal management enables the system to optimize battery power and reduce internal energy consumption.

United States International Trade Commission Issues Exclusion Order for Infringing Apple Watches, Finding that Apple Violated U.S. Trade Laws

The USITC found that Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) violated U.S. laws by incorporating Masimo’s patented light-based pulse oximetry technology in its products. The exclusion is scheduled to go into effect after a 60-day Presidential review period.

“Today’s ruling by the USITC sends a powerful message that even the world’s largest company is not above the law,” said Joe Kiani, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Masimo. “This important determination is a strong validation of our efforts to hold Apple accountable for unlawfully misappropriating our patented technology,” added Mr. Kiani.

Comments from two dozen academic institutions, leading antitrust and intellectual property scholars, physicians, investors, nonprofits, and members of Congress were filed in support of the public’s interest in the exclusion order. These comments conveyed a similar message: to protect innovation, such as Masimo’s technology, and to protect public health, it is necessary to preserve incentives to innovate and protect intellectual property and fair competition.

In its comment submitted to the ITC, the Consumer Federation of America stated, “There is no greater offense to both the antitrust and intellectual property law than when a dominant firm infringes the patent of a smaller rival, who is an actual or potential competitor. In this case, as in the other cases involving Apple’s egregious abuse of market power, the harms far outweigh the benefit. In fact, because competition will swiftly replace any services or products that Apple is no longer able to deliver because of the remedy, there will be little harm and a great deal of benefit for consumers and the economy.”

Key highlights of the third quarter financial results:

Net sales in the third quarter were EUR 21.4 million, showing 7.4% growth compared to last year

Operating results increased 23.0% to EUR 6.2 million as compared to 5.0 last year

Net result decreased by 3.3% to EUR 3.2 million

Cash flow after investments was EUR -7.9 million

Earnings per share were EUR 0.01

Tecnotree received EUR 31 million of new orders for the Quarter and the Order Backlog at the end of the period stood at EUR 78.0 million
